VASSILIS TRIANTIS
Vassilis was born in Greece and is currently living in Amsterdam. He comes from a scientific background and after completing a doctorate in medical biology, and following a career in medical research, he turned to photography which he practices now combines as an autodidact.
His practice delves into the realms of personal histories, autobiographical experiences, and how these form social landscapes. He is exploring how natural laws apply and are manifested in social mechanisms and patterns of behaviour, the emerging properties of social groups that derive from congregation of individuals, and the effects of social environments on personal traits. His visual language navigates the intersection of social documentation and scientific inquiry, that invites viewers to contemplate the tangible and intangible elements that interweave personal histories in the grater social fabric.
He has worked with the 7 fingers, the Ballet National de Marseille, and Dimitris Papaioannou.
His work was included in The New Dutch Talent catalogue of 2017 from GUP magazine, and in the Encontros da Imagem 2017 festival program, while his project Point of View was shortlisted for FotoFilmic18. He was winner of the PhotoRomania 2020 Festival Portfolio review and he is a participating artist in the Futures Photography 2020 cycle.
